70's VS. Today
Here are some pretty funny/interesting differences between kids born and raised in the 70's verses today
1. First, many mothers drank and smoked while they were pregnant. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can and they didn't get tested for Diabetes. 2. They put us to sleep on our tummies in cribs covered with bright colored lead based paint. 3. As infants and children, we rode in cars with no car seats, booster seats, seat belts or air bags. 4. Riding in the back of a pick-up on a warm day was always a special treat. 5. We drank water form the garden hose, NOT from a bottle. 6.We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and no one actually died from this. 7.We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank Kool Aid made w/ sugar, but we weren't overweight because we were ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING ! 8. We could leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on. 9. No one was able to reach us ALL day... AND we were okay. 10. We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride them down the hill, only to find out we forgot he brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned how to solve the problem. 11. We did not have Playstations, Nintendos, X-Boxes; no video games at all, no 150 channels on cable, no cell phones or personal computers and Internet. We had FRIENDS and went outside and played.12. We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents. 13. We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever. 14. We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up game w/sticks and tennis balls and although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes. 15. We rode bikes or walked to our friends house and knocked on the door, or rang the bell, or just walked in. 16. Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with the disappoints. Imagine that ! 17. The idea of of a parent bailing us out of if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law.
This generations has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever. During these years he had freedom, failure, success and responsibility and we learned how to deal with it all !!
Quite a difference from todays kids...
