Eau de Toilette...
My obsession w/ mini perfume bottles is peaking. *shoot, lets be honest, it has peaked*. It started when I was given some of my Grandma Kramer's perfume bottles that she has had for years. Unfortunately, one smells a little "aged", but fortunately, the bottle is beautiful. The rest actually smell quite lovely. One is even from Cartier *how Parisian do I feel ? I can see the Eiffel Tower from here*. It's called "So Pretty" and in today's world it runs $48 smack-a-roos for a 1oz bottle. (which is what mine is). I'm sure my Grandpa didn't have to pay that much for it when he got it for "his girl"...although, she is certainly worth that much, and he certainly would have paid that much if she wanted it :) I smell them, and I think of her. So classy. So feminine. So... Grandma !
Most of the ones I have, I've gotten at Walgreens *yes, that's right people. I love a good drug store* for $9.99. Sure beats droppin' $48 bones :) My mom said that when she met Grandma Kramer for the first time, she saw in her room that she had this beautiful mirror/tray that she had placed her perfume/vintage brush/mirror/special treasures on, and mom thought it was so lovely. Newly married, she and dad didn't have much money, so she knew she could never afford a mirror/tray like the one Grandma had, so she went out and bought the best one she could afford. Needless-to-say, it was cheaply made. But to this day, my mom still has her perfumes/pearl necklaces, etc. sitting on that "cheap" mirror/tray. And... now... she has the very same one she saw in Grandma Kramer's room... sitting on her dresser with that very same vintage brush and comb. Good things come to those who wait :) I'll find my own mirror/tray one of these days and if I am patient enough, I may just end up w/ two more...
